Engine (Power)
According to Ford, the extended-range battery and dual-motored powertrain created 580 horsepower and 775 pound-feet of torque. The power behind this motor allows the vehicle to accelerate to 60 miles per hour in under 4 seconds, making this pickup truck faster than the Powerboost Hybrid and the Raptor 37.
Performance
The electric motor inside the impressive machine is powerful enough to impress even the most avid gasoline-powered engine lover with the surprising level of silence with the new engine. The electric motor delivers instant power to the engine and makes this a great option for those who like a little speed paired with the power of a pickup truck. The extended-range battery provides drivers with enough energy to drive from 240 miles to 320 miles without needing to recharge. If you plan on towing something, the battery will drain quicker, and you'll need to stop to recharge. The Lightning handles exceptionally well, comparable to the regular F-150, and has a lower center of gravity, making it slightly safer than the traditional F-150 pickup truck.
Interior
The 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning is similar to the typical F-150, with high-quality interior materials and a spacious and comfortable cabin that's ergonomically designed for comfort. The Lightning is available only as a crew cab with a truck bed measuring 5.5 feet. As an additional perk, the F-150 Lightning has a front trunk, referred to as a frunk, where you can carry an additional 400 pounds of cargo, with enough space to fit about two golf club bags.
A 12-inch infotainment screen comes standard on the Lightning, but the Lariat and Platinum trims have a larger 15.5-inch display, making everything easy to see and accessible for the busy driver.
Safety Features
The 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning leaves little to chance when it comes to driver safety and standard features. As a base for every trim, the Lightning comes equipped with several driver-assist technologies, including pedestrian detection, standard automated emergency braking, lane departure warning, and lane-keeping assistance.
